Kitchen plate-tracker

This project came along as a solution to a
problem: the ever-present struggle to keep
shared kitchens clean and tidy, especially
the lack of responsibility from people who
do not load or unload dishes to or from the
dishwasher.
This model showcased a potential solution
that we presented to a client who
approached us with the above-stated
problem, demanding a technologically
advanced solution.
The model kitchen consisted of a plate
tracking system using RFID tags on the
plate and a gate tracking those plates.
Using this combination, the system tracks
which person loaded/unloaded and how
many plates he loaded/unloaded and
tracks a score. This was a menial task such
as operating the dishwasher could be
gamified, creating a purpose for people to
do their dishes.
